On Sept. 18, Pacific Place transformed into fashion show headquarters for Downtown Seattle Rocks the Runway – with the event’s net proceeds benefiting the Junior League of Seattle.
We were welcomed with a sign to reserve our seats along the runway (a wonderful benefit for fashion show veterans!) and then feasted on mouthwatering delicacies including mini milkshakes from Johnny Rockets, chowder from Pike Place Chowder, as well as other fantastic goodies from Gordon Biersch, il Fornaio, and Mexico Cantina y Cocina. The bar included Peroni beer, O Wines, and signature cocktails featuring Sparkling ICE beverages and Proximo Spirits.
In our seats, we tapped our toes to Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” as the fabulous models marched past us in what are sure to be some of the hottest looks for the fall and winter seasons. Retailers who dressed models for the show included Nordstrom, Barney’s New York, Free People, Macy’s, Mario’s, Columbia Sportswear as well as several others.
There was a decidedly Seattle-slant to the fashion selections, with wearable looks rather than fashions that needed to stay on the runway. What trends should we be on the lookout for?
Leather: skirts, dresses, pants, vests, embellishments
Oversize outerwear: flowing parkas, jackets, and scarves
Printed tights and leggings: everything from animal prints to graphic statements
Pops of color: particularly vibrant purple, yellow, and orange
Blazers: a variety of styles
Attendees went home with a swag bag packed full of incredible goodies to keep rocking the looks after we got home.
Downtown Seattle Rocks the Runway was presented by Seattle Met and Pacific Place. Northwest Cadillac Dealer Group, Roche Bobois, Peroni, and STAR 101.5 were the event sponsors.
