Trucks Were Touched, So Was The Community!

The Junior League of Seattle was delighted to welcome more than 3,000 community members to our third annual Touch-A-Truck event at Magnuson Park on Sunday, June 2. In addition to being a great brand-building event for the Junior League, we were also able to raise more than $7,000, thanks to donations from the public and the generous contribution from our title sponsor, Kenworth. Thank you to everyone who attended and to everyone who donated!

The event achieved a 40 percent increase in truck participation from 2012. Exhibiting companies included: Kenworth, WSDOT, UPS, Seattle Fire Department and Emerald City Trolley. New to the event this year were five food trucks that fueled the crowd. To create a total event experience, the TAT committee worked with ENERGY and Kids In the Kitchen to provide fun activities including a kids boot camp, healthy meal preparation and seed planting.

The TAT committee would like to send a semi-truck sized thank you to the terrific volunteers who helped create great memories for Seattle-area kids and their families through their efforts in welcoming our guests, painting faces, collecting donations, answering questions, leading coloring activities and directing traffic. We are already looking forward to next year and the trucks can’t wait to come back!

If you have any feedback about the event or contacts for vehicles for next year’s event you would like to share, please send them to touchatruck@jrleagueseattle.org.
